Back in July the Trump administration launched a campaign to stir up unrest in Iran as part of an ongoing and intensified push to overthrow the mullahs and replace them with marionettes controlled by the United States.
Prior to George W. Bush illegally rolling into Iraq based on a passel of lies, Bill Clinton oversaw Papa Bush’s medieval sanctions on the country. The sanctions were not intended to stop Saddam Hussein from building WMDs as we were told by The New York Times and The Washington Post.
Finally, a bit of truth from government. It came from Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke. He said the US has the “ability, with our Navy, to make sure the sea lanes are open, and, if necessary, to blockade [Russia and Iran] to make sure that their energy does not go to market.”
For months now, indeed for over a year, the corporate media has tossed around the prospect of Trump’s UN ambassador Nikki Haley becoming president. They say it is entirely possible Americans will vote for this woman. She’s perceived as tough with the latch of a bull dog, relentlessly confronting Iran, Venezuela, and other enemies of the neoliberal order.
It is entirely bizarre how an obvious lie can be furbished into truth and this is widely accepted not only by apparatchiks of the war party, but a large segment of the American people.
It looks like Trump will plunge us into war, either in Iran or Syria, and possibly both with the truly frightening prospect of Russia and the US going up against each other.
John Bolton warned Russia the United States will take “necessary steps” to stop it meddling in the 2018 midterms.
“I made it clear that we wouldn’t tolerate meddling in 2018 and that we were prepared to take necessary steps to prevent it from happening,” he said.
