Earlier this month, the president took Rep. Omar to task on Twitter. It was an opportunistic post by Trump, an effort to stir his base up on the emotional topic of 9/11.
Rep. Omar said some people did something. She didn’t say Muslims in Afghan caves did something. Despite the 9/11 commission report, there is little solid evidence Osama bin laden directed the attacks from Afghanistan, or that he had anything at all to do with it. There is little to no evidence the highjacking (if we accept the premise the planes were indeed hijacked) was carried out by al-Qaeda. The case presented by the government wouldn’t stand up in a court of law. It’s a sham, just like the Warren Report.
So, yes, somebody carried out the attacks, but we don’t have enough evidence to definitively say it was al-Qaeda, the Saudis, Israel, or the US.
Trump, of course, thinks it was Osama bin Laden. Most of his MAGA base believe the government story of perfidious Arabs mounting a payback attack, supposedly for the sin of stationing US troops in the holy land of Islam.
Omar will be crucified with this one. She can’t be allowed to tarnish the propaganda myth of 9/11, a myth and scary bedtime story exploited by criminal neocons to launch a series of devastating wars (devastating for the innocents slaughtered and US treasure squandered).
Virtually every member of Congress—with a few notable exceptions such as Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky and Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii—supports the neocon wars and are eager to get something going with Iran and Venezuela. Democrats want to get something going with Russia. Trump and the Republicans are preparing to engage in economic warfare against Cuba and Nicaragua.
Ms. Omar will be driven out of Congress along with socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She can’t be allowed to defile an important myth responsible for the Patriot Act, the endless wars, imperial presidencies, an ever growing police state, pervasive and illegal surveillance, and the deliberate destruction of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
